Avi asks: “what’s up with the barbed wire and fencing around all the trees on embassy row? Is there a anti tree group from which they need protection?”

Dave notes that “DDOT required when road work is going to be done near trees” but still I don’t think I’ve seen these with barbed wire before…

“Dear PoPville,

My sister in nearby Maryland just sent me a video clip from her front door camera…2:37am!!!!
She was TERRIFIED!

We can’t figure out what animal, beast, monster or possessed being this is???

Perhaps the OP community might be able to identify?
Is it mating? Is it an attack? Is it just playing around?

NOT a fun sound to hear during REM sleep…”

“Dear PoPville,

I saw something weird in the sky and wanted to see if anyone else in the columbia heights may have spotted it. Around 10:45pm on 4/28 i saw an object flying pretty low to the ground, coming from the children’s national hospital area and flying West across the sky. It was mostly dark but had red lights on either side that were really spread far apart, almost like a plane’s wings, but i couldn’t see anything in the middle and there weren’t lights in the middle. The way it was traveling, the lights were in the front and back not side to side like for a plane.

It was also flying too close to the ground to be a plane, it almost looked like it was skimming over the treetops, so i thought it was a helicopter but the two lights were so far apart and it was shaped so different than a helicopter. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We stumbled upon this giant nest (approx 15 ft wide) while hiking along the north side of the Melvin C. Hazen Trail. Any information on who built it and why?” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I saw bright lights appear in the sky down 14th street, and I was wondering if anyone knows what they were. They moved around and looked like they were flashing, and they definitely did not seem like planes. Did anyone else see these around 7:40 pm? In case it helps, a video is attached! (The second light appears halfway through.)”

To the video: (more…)
