“Dear PoPville,

If you’re an e-bike or scooter rider who rides on the sidewalk – please slow down while passing pedestrians!

I’ve had a couple of alarming encounters recently – I don’t know if this is just because I’m walking on streets without bike lanes more frequently or if this behavior is increasing. About five times over the past month, I’ve been walking on the sidewalk when a person on an e-bike or scooter has flown by me at a high speed. Ed. Note: This is the first time I’ve seen one over “War Memorial Arlington”. Does “War Memorial Arlington” refer to the US Marine Corps War Memorial? The Air Force Memorial? Or is that how they are referencing Arlington National Cemetery (most common sight of flyovers) now?

From Alert DC:

“The U.S. Military will conduct an aircraft flyover in the National Capital Region (NCR) over the War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 6:35PM.”

You can see Arlington National Cemetery’s Daily Funeral Schedule here. Their page currently says:

“Due to the lapse in appropriations, Arlington House — including its gift shop and restrooms — and the Air Force Memorial are closed. ANC remains open.”
