Looks like the Virginia crisis/threat has been averted. From the Mayor’s office:
“Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a final agreement between the District government and D.C. United that clears the way for D.C. United to build a new soccer stadium in the District of Columbia. The signed agreements include improved deal terms which will result in better financial protections for District of Columbia residents, clarify the size and timeline of the stadium, and strengthen community engagement. The Bowser Administration will submit legislation to the Council of the District of Columbia for final review. (more…)

“In partnership with US Rowing and Concept2, the Capital Rowing Club will host the 14th annual National Learn to Row Day on Saturday June 6, 2015. The day’s events will take place at the Anacostia Community Boathouse (1900 M St., SE) from 12:00pm – 3:00pm in a fun, safe, pressure free environment. The afternoon will include an introduction to the fundamentals of rowing where you will learn the basics of sweep rowing (a type of rowing when a rower has one oar, held with both hands). People of all athletic abilities are welcomed to participate! Additionally, there will be information on hand about the wonderful programs offered by the Capital Rowing Club ranging from beginner programs for people of all ages to competitive racing for experienced rowers.

From the Washington Post:
“Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is making a last-minute bid to persuade D.C. United to build its new stadium in Loudoun County, and the team’s ownership — despite having spent more than two years negotiating a deal for a D.C. stadium — appears to be listening.”

Thanks to FsuNoles4life for sending. A wazin is a wazin!!! I’ll take it!

From Change.org:
“We realize it is not mandated by law that your facility provide any accommodations, however we implore the organization to consider the fans and their families who love coming to games with their nursing and bottle-fed babies, but do not want to be isolated from enjoying a game we have paid a ticket to see. Additionally, for mothers who may be away from their children for the extended period that a game lasts, it would be courteous for the Washington Nationals organization to provide a space for pumping mothers to take a break in a private, sanitary space to express milk as necessary while attending a baseball game.
An ideal sanctioned Family space in Nationals Park would be ADA-compliant and include:
Comfortable armchairs for the nursing and bottle-feeding parent
Outlets for plugging in breast pumps
Counter space for diaper changing
A sink, trash cans, possibly lockers for renting
HVAC temperature maintained at a level which would be comfortable in a Dressing Room type of environment
Possible adjacency to the children’s play area
Privacy from the passing crowd
Display and sound of the live baseball game
We compel the Washington Nationals organization to consider this upgraded amenity to Nationals Park in order to better provide the team’s fans with an experience and accommodations to be expected from a family-friendly organization.”

Harper’s Home Run
Thanks to Lorie Shaull for sharing these great photos:
“Highlights were watching Scherzer pitch 5 innings on Friday for a 7-5 win against the Astros in Kissimmee and getting watch & photograph some real closeup pitching while he was in the bullpen; all totaled he struck out 6 batters and allowed one run on three hits. That same day I also had the good fortune to get a photograph of Harper hitting his first home run of the season. On Saturday Jordan Zimmerman pitched 5 innings for a 4-2 win over the Marlins at Space Coast Stadium, their home stadium in Viera.
Max Scherzer has been named the Opening Day starter vs the Mets on April 6.”
