Thanks to Fisch and Mark for passing on from Declaration:

“We are temporarily pausing operations. We greatly appreciate all the support this neighborhood has provided during this time of crisis.

It is our fullest intention to re-open sometime in the near future. We will be working on menu ideas and how we can better service our community.” (more…)

919 U Street, NW

Thanks to Mark for passing on word from El Rey:

“El Rey fam. Ever since we announced our closing your support and love has been overwhelming

We heard you, which is why we will NOT close on October 31st and will stay open for as long as we can – for you, for our staff, for DC. Thank you and nothing but love #UStreetDC!”

Ed. Note: Back in September we had learned American Ice Company, The Brixton, Echo Park, El Rey, The Gibson, Marvin, and Players Club reportedly will close “for the foreseeable future on Halloween.”

Updates if there are miracles for any of the other Hilton brothers spots mentioned above.

“Dear PoPville,

I saw a really cute guy yesterday (Tuesday, October 13) at around 2:45 pm at the 14th St. NW USPS underneath the Municipal Affairs building. He had a skateboard and a very cute gray and white doggy with him. We exchanged looks and commented on the long line, but I chickened out and left without even asking his dog’s name let alone his own name or number! Please help me find the Sk8er Boy, PoPville!”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about passed missed connections, some have been made and when possibly I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

11th and Vermont Ave, NW

A reader reports: “shots fired around 11 PM last night at 11th and Vermont NW by Logan Circle. Woke up to 4-5 VERY loud, distinct shots, and not seconds later cops were swarming the area. Hard to tell in picture but cops were out with flashlights, seemed like they were looking at cars for bullet holes or casings.” (more…)
