Sospeso lets us know via twitter yesterday: “We actually made it through and opening this Friday!”

Their website says:

“Start your day with expertly crafted coffee and pastries, stop in for a classic porchetta sandwich in the afternoon, or finish your day with our fresh homemade pasta, paired with an original house-infused vermouth cocktail or wine from our carefully-selected list.

Inspired by the recipes of our grandparents and great-grandparents, as well as the sun-drenched countries and seas of Southern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and North Africa, we choose fresh local ingredients to prepare simple and modern artisan dishes with beautifully defined flavors.

Grilled fish served head to tail, mezes of taverns, and the highest quality olive oils and wines are Sospeso’s signature offerings. “Whole Foods Market will open its newest Washington location on Wednesday, March 15, at 600 H St. NE. The store, designed to be the go-to destination for grocery shoppers east of the Capitol, will offer the highest quality natural and organic products, including fresh produce, meat, seafood and prepared foods.

“We’re thrilled to join the thriving H Street neighborhood,” said Donovan Morris, the store’s team leader and a 26-year Whole Foods Market veteran who most recently led the Foggy Bottom/GW store. “We’re offering a unique, exciting grocery shopping experience and a new destination for fast casual dining with gathering places for the community.”

Every item sold in the store meets Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards and is free of artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats.

“The Fifth District is currently investigating a shooting which occurred in 1D on February 11, 2017 at approximately 12:25 PM in the 1400 block of H Street NE. An adult victim was suffering from an apparent gun wound and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening . There is look-out for 3 black males. The subject with the gun is described as 5’-7” to 5 -9, wearing black jacket and blue jeans. Subject 2 and 3 have similar clothing.

50 Year Old Stabbed on H Street around 6:30pm Last Night

“Today at approximately 630 PM the First District responded to an adult male of approximately 50 years of age who ran to the store at 1101 H St NE and advised that he had been stabbed several times. The original offense may have occurred at 8th and H St NE.

The victim was not able to communicate a motive or a more specific suspect lookout than that he was stabbed by a Black Male in his 20’s wearing all black clothing and no witnesses immediately came forward.

If anyone observed the offense or would like to provide any information about this case, it is currently being investigated by the Detectives of the First District Detectives Unit who may be reached on (202) 299-2025. Please reference CCN-17-017800.”
