Vincent reports:

“I have a follow up for Bun DC. It is in fact the same ownership from Pho Viet. I bumped into the owner of Pho Viet inspecting the restaurant from outside and she told me that it is actually her mother’s restaurant, but she will also be a cook. Regardless, the Pho Viet family will have their handprints all over this. She said they are ready to go and could easily open in a week, but have been waiting on DC to inspect the place for months. As a huge Pho Viet fan, DC needs to hurry up and get on this!”

Amen. STAY TUNED.

From MPD:

“On February 22, 2018 at approximately 12:43 A.M. in the 3600 block of New Hampshire Avenue NW, an MPD Mountain Bike unit observed an adult male suspect run up behind an adult male victim and punch him in the back of the head, causing him to fall. The suspect stated, “give me your wallet” and then removed a wallet from the victim’s pocket. Our MPD mountain bike unit quickly approached and grabbed the suspect and took him to the ground to detain him, immediately placing him under arrest. The victim sustained a minor cut to his lip and was treated on the scene by medics. The victim’s property was recovered.

Great job on the part of the mountain bike officer for actively patrolling on the beat and removing a violent criminal from the streets, thereby enhancing public safety.”

“Dear PoPville,

This scooter appeared in our alley about a month ago. It has a lock, but none of the neighbors know anything about it. The city has refused to remove it saying it doesn’t meet their standards for an abandoned vehicle.

What’s our next move here?”

From MPD:

“Last night at approximately 9:30 pm, the 7th District had an armed carjacking at 1433 Shippen Lane SE. Taken was a 2016 red Mercedes Benz.

There was GPS enabled on the vehicle and MPD was notified that the vehicle was in the 700 b/o Quebec place NW.

4D officers responded and located the vehicle in the rear of the 700 b/o Quebec Place N.W.

The vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived. A perimeter was set up for K9 track. K9 was unsuccessful.

The 700 b/o Quebec has since been reopened.

Anyone with information should call 202.727.9099″

“Dear PoPville,

Any idea why there was a long line of people outside of Trinity Towers (on 14th St between Columbia Rd and Irving) this morning at 6:30am?”

The The Trinity Towers Tenant Association posted:

“Thank You @BreadfortheCity your posting of open enrollment or taking applications for apartments in our building was interesting to say the least.

It’s clear affordable housing in DC is very much a problem @BrianneKNadeau @MayorBowser”

11th and Park Road, NW

From an email:

“We have a new website. www.11thandBark.org. It is filled with photos of dogs who use the park and has lots of information. Most important, it has a new petition and action items.

Whereas the last petition was focused on convincing the the first petition was designed to tell District officials that we didn’t want WMATA to sell the park. But now we need to tell the Mayor & the DC Council that we want the District to buy the property and designate it an official dog park.

The Mayor is currently crafting her budget and should present it to the Council in March. Ward One Councilmember Brianne Nadeau already requested that Mayor Muriel Bowser include money in her budget to buy the property for the purpose of a dog park. Now, it’s our turn to tell the Mayor to include money in her budget to buy the park and Councilmembers to support it.”
