Well no way around it, this sucks. Last night The Hill is Home reported: “According to their social media manager, the closure is the owners’ personal decision and the Fredericksburg, Virginia, store will still be open.”

Riverby’s website says:

“Riverby Books DC will be closing. Please come and buy some handfuls (or armfuls) of books and use your store credit!

We are NO LONGER BUYING BOOKS.”

Some may recall that back in 2015 Riverby Books had closed after their owner, Mr. Cymrot, was hit by truck and killed. Fortunately they were able to reopen later that year. This is a serious bummer.

Thanks to Justin for sending from Capitol Hill:

“These guys were installing yesterday from 10am to well after 10pm. Not really a complaint or anything, just some guys working long hard hours in crappy weather.”

Perspective. Respect.

“Dear PoPville,

An acquaintance of mine was in D.C. from out of town this past weekend and suffered a car break-in on Saturday night (11/17) between 8 and 11:30 p.m. She was parked below I-695 near the corner of 8th and I (Eye) Streets SE.

She is missing a distinctive-looking messenger bag similar to the one in the photo — it’s a reddish color with a Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos-style skull — and some Mead spiral notebooks that were inside. The notebooks are important to her because they contain a bunch of her creative writing.

Both spiral notebooks have geometric designs — one in purple, the other possibly in green or black. (more…)

Whoa, spotted this sign at Stanton & Greene over the weekend. A couple of weeks ago Washington Business Journal reported:

“Stanton & Greene, the Capitol Hill cocktail bar that replaced the Pour House in 2015, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation.”

Their phone number has been disconnected and their Facebook stops updating after October 25th, though their website remains live. Stay tuned.

From MPD:

“First district officers responded to a call for service in the area of 7th and G Street, SE for a report of a male exposing himself. Officers were given the description of the suspect and due to their quick response and diligence, they located the suspect and he was arrested.”

Ed. Note: This follows the arrest made last week.
