14th and U Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Long-time resident of the neighborhood around 14th & U, NW. Starting last summer someone started playing loud amplified noise, sometimes live, with instruments and singing, but usually recorded, every weekend, and sometimes weekdays, for hours on end, using the Reeves Center’s electrical outlet as their power source. They play the same thing over and over. It stopped over the winter but restarted today (Wednesday) at 330pm. I enjoy live music, but this is repetitive and annoying, especially while we are all confined to our homes. Has anyone else noticed it?”

Another nearby resident wonders the same: (more…)

Emir shares with us yesterday: “#traderjoes of 14th street #WashingtonDC has a very low inventory due to the snow storm. They’ll restock Thursday #dc”

Rachel notes the effects of the storm were felt as early as Sunday: “Not gonna lie, almost cried when I saw they were out of salted peanut butter pretzels on Sunday lol”

and Ivana noted yesterday: “And don’t bother going to the Safeway at 5th/L St, they’re out of nearly everything”

Good luck today people, and remember, this is no excuse to skip 2nd breakfast, arguably the most important meal of the day.

“Dear PoPville,

We were the victims of a car robbery Friday afternoon. At Florida and W St NW.

We were just moving back to DC after living in Los Angeles for the last year and a half. Right when we got to our apartment complex, as we were unloading our bags from our Lyft, someone stepped into our driver’s car and drove away with several of our bags inside. My wife was also in the car when the guy drove off, but thankfully he pulled over to let her out a few seconds later.

There were plenty of witnesses on the scene. (more…)
