“Any more information about the gun shoots by the Civil War Memorial/U St Metro that happened which had a few blocks of U St closed off?”
MPD replies:
“Our units were called to the area for the sounds of gunshots. We were able to find evidence relating to actual shots being fired but have not located any witnesses or victims relating to it. If anyone has any information pertaining to this, they are encouraged to call (202) 727-9099.”
1830 14th Street, NW
Back in October we noted the future Amsterdam Falafel coming to 14th Street just south of T Street was starting to look good. Now some serious construction has started – looks like they’ve got a bit of a dig out going on:
When finished seating capacity will be for 45 and hours will be Sunday and Monday 10am-12am; Tuesday and Wednesday 10am-2:30am; Thursday 10am-3am and Friday & Saturday 10am-4am.
From MPD:
“At approximately 11:43 P.M., a citizen was robbed at gunpoint by two juvenile suspects at 15th and T Streets, N.W. The suspects obtained the victim’s cell phone and fled. The victim immediately called 911 to report the offense. Moments later, officers assigned to the Third District stopped two juveniles a short distance away. Pursuant to a preliminary investigation, both juveniles were subsequently arrested and a black BB gun was recovered from the scene.”
From MPD:
“At approximately 1:00 am this morning, officers were patrolling the area of 10th Street and U Street, NW when they observed an individual who had been stabbed by two suspects, who were running away from the area. The officers were able to apprehend both suspects and they were placed under arrest.
The citizen that was stabbed was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Anyone with information related to this offense are asked to contact MPD at 202 727-9099.”

“The Gibson will be hosting a holiday tree trimming party tonight on their patio to kick off their holiday cocktails and decorated patio (not usually open in the colder seasons) which will be available through January 4. Tonight’s event begins at 6pm and ornaments will be available for purchase on site. “A committee of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1B/U Street voted December 16 to endorse the request for zoning variances necessary for the establishment of a day-care service for dogs on the first floor of a mixed-use building at the corner of 14th Street and Florida Avenue NW. The recommendation of the Design Review Committee will now go to the full ANC for consideration at the next meeting in January.”

Thanks to a reader for sending this awesome shot of the new development coming to Florida Ave between 8th and 9th St, NW.
“Dear PoPville,
Last Saturday my girlfriend’s car was broken into and my computer and car keys were stolen which were in a backpack in the trunk from 11th and T NW. A quicksilver blue/white backpack with a brown/tan patch. Inside had my MacBook air [Serial number C02GFWV6DjWT ], car keys, headphones and law school outlines.
I am in law school at UDC Law and this computer had everything for law school finals which were last week and this week. I made a police report, have been trying to locate via Find my mac device etc. but having no luck.
Then the other day I received an email from Apple stating that an erase was pending but on “Romex’s laptop” which was still showing up in my find my device application as it is really my computer.
I sent a message and a lock request with my number.
I just wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone, possibly may have some information on a macbook air that was stolen.
