“Dear PoPville,

Any idea what they’re filming on 14th and W? There’s a ton of action inside and around the yellow row house, a film crew, tons of equipment and a tour bus.”

Another reader heard it was a “romantic comedy”. Anyone else hear more details?

From a press release:

“Washington, D.C. chef and restaurateur Mike Isabella announces changes to the interior design and menu at his 14th Street Italian restaurant G, which include the addition of a 15-seat bar area, new cocktail program, extended service seven days a week from 11am-10pm, and delivery.

“We opened G as a sandwich shop by day and an Italian restaurant by night, but now we have moved to an all-day menu where guests can get a sandwich or a great bowl of pasta any time,” said Isabella. “As part of the design refresh we’ve added a full-service bar with fun new cocktails. G is really a neighborhood spot and our changes reflect how regulars want to eat and drink.”

Thanks to a reader for sharing a note sent to Metro about “a U Street Metro attendant who did something positive and deserves to be commended for it. It was simple, but meant so much to me:

I can’t thank you enough.

It may have been a routine thing for you, but your act of kindness meant the world to me.

I dropped my scarf while running to catch a late train, and you called after me as a man (whom I wish I could also thank) was returning it to me. I didn’t understand you at first as you yelled to me, and may have even seemed annoyed or ungrateful, but the fact that you made sure I received it was very much appreciated. I didn’t even fully process it until after it happened. You could have shrugged your shoulders or cared less, but you didn’t.

A very close friend gave the scarf to me many years ago, and I would have been devastated to lose it. The simple act of calling after me meant so much, and your kindness made me reevaluate my interactions with others. (more…)

Junction Vintage’s website and facebook are still active but I put a call in to the store during regular hours on Sunday and it went unanswered to voicemail.

Update: Junction Village will be closing on U Street at the end of January and moving to a new location. “I’ll still be open for inauguration needs.” Updates when the new location is announced.
