From a press release:

“This election season, two District bars are going to thank you for voting.

To appreciate your participation in this most basic and vital element of the democratic process, guests wearing an “I Voted” or “I Voted Early” sticker to Duke’s Counter or Duke’s Grocery from now through November 8 will receive a beer, wine or mixed drink for just $1.00.

District residents pay federal taxes, but do not have representation in the House or Senate. District residents serve in the armed forces and the federal government, but do not have control over their own budget. In light of these inequalities, this offer is limited to Washington, D.C. residents with valid ID issued by the District of Columbia.

Both locations will also host an Election Night Party on November 8, with a complimentary champagne toast when the election is called, along with drink specials on all beers, wines and spirits that are produced in the United States.

Guests are welcome to any glass of wine, all beers up to 12 ounces, or any well cocktail for $1.00. Limit 1 per person. Cheers!

Fun, but I thought it was illegal for businesses to offer specials and deals on election day?

    Damn, already voted!

What if you voted absentee?? 🙁

    • Anon Spock

If you voted absentee in DC, I’m sure you could bring along the email about the absentee ballot and plead your case.

  • The Law

They appear to be skirting the law by making it about the stickers and not whether you actually voted. But a judge could interpret it as exactly that. However, it’s unlikely someone will prosecute them.

Au contraire its apparent they did their homework and are sticking it to the Fed since DC has taxation without representation (aka tyranny).

Can I have a rain check? It is not convenient for me to travel from Denver at this time.
