“ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar turns one year old this Thursday, July 13th. We invite DC to celebrate a year of hundreds of kegs, thousands of pintxo toothpicks, and a little spilled cider.
We start the day at 3:00pm with an extended happy hour (half off all pintxos and select drinks), and then continue with a free Txotx (the Basque practice of catching cider straight from the barrel) on the patio. We’ll have every ANXO collaboration cider to dateavailable, as well as some special draft beers selected by Beer Director and Designer Cooper Sheehan. Our friends Potter’s Craft Cider and Commonwealth Brewing will have collaborations on offer as well.
We’ll also be grilling various meats and veggies, in addition to introducing our new summer dining menu from Executive Chef Alex Vallcorba. (more…)

Awesome! I love random horse sightings. Derik writes:
“We were enjoying happy hour at Royal on Florida Ave yesterday, when this guy rode by. I’m guessing he was just out for a nice Sunday afternoon ride, but we were trying to figure out where he keeps a horse in or near the city! I’m sure there’s a Maryland driver joke in there somewhere, but I can’t think of anything witty right now.”

“Dear PoPville,
I live on a one-way block of 4th street NW (between M and N). It’s surrounded by a few very busy streets (New York Ave and New Jersey) and people very frequently cut down the street in the wrong direction at high speeds to bypass traffic. This is obviously super dangerous, and frustrating (we recently bought a house here and primary motivation was the relatively quiet, traffic-free street). We have seen many near misses where pedestrians don’t think to check for traffic coming in the wrong direction. Is there a way to submit a complaint to DDOT or to ask for additional enforcement of traffic laws?”
