The Rhode Island Ave location is where the new Banneker High School will be located. Updates when they find a new space.

“Dear PoPville,

There was a hit and run that happened last night at approximately 9:55 PM at the intersection of R ST NW and 6th ST NW. I was about to cross 6th street, standing on R when I saw a cyclist (who had a green light) crossing 6th street in the bike lane on R St. At the same time, a speeding car driver turning left from Rhode Island Ave NW ran the red light and T-boned the cyclist at the intersection, sending him and his bike flying. The car driver decelerated for a few seconds, and sped away on 6th street heading south. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am reaching out regarding what happened to me on Sunday in Washington D.C: at around 2:05am, I was crossing the street on Florida Avenue NW, at the crossroads with Georgia Avenue NW, when I was hit by a car, a dark colored SUV. The car was traveling southbound on Georgia Ave NW and attempted to make a left turn, heading eastbound on Florida Ave NW. I was crossing the street guided by the walk signal and had the right-of-way at the time of the collision. The person, a black male with dreadlocks according to the police report, apparently quickly stopped the vehicle to check on my welfare but then fled the scene, continuing Eastbound and without making their identity known. Unfortunately, no one had the time to write down the car tags. (more…)
