“A quintessential DC restaurant is close to closing”

1914 9th Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

I am writing to you to get some help to save Dino’s Grotto! This family owned DC restaurant makes the best farm to table Italian dishes in the city and boast an impressive wine menu! Unfortunately they are having trouble competing with big name chefs and restaurants. They are the go to Italian restaurant in Shaw/Logan circle and continually feature fresh seasonal farm ingredients in every dish. The owner Dean goes out of his way to travel to farms for locally sourced meat and vegetables while simultaneously maintaining relationships with Italian vinters to get great deals on rate Italian wines.

I eat at Dino’s 3-4 times a month but that is not enough to combat the big name chefs and restaurateurs from leveraging their brand to take from local DC establishments.

It would be criminal to let such a great DC restaurant such as Dino’s Grotto from developing to it’s true potential.

Please help get the word out and drive business to this local DC establishment.”

Ed. Note: I messaged the owner and he does not dispute OP’s remarks.

We also spoke about other spots that could use some love here.
