“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close lanes at 9th Street NW, from T Street NW to U Street NW beginning August 9 through October 14, 2021, weather permitting.
These lane closures are scheduled to start on Monday, August 9, 2021, extending through Thursday, October 14,2021, weather permitting.
Traffic controls will be in place to guide all users of the roadway through the work zone safely. Motorists should expect delays due to the lane closures and are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and road work crews while traveling in this area.

Update from DC Fire and EMS: “One Alarm fire rear old Grimke School 1923 Vermont Ave NW. Debris and ports-potties on fire which produced large amount of visible smoke. #DCsBravest have extinguished fire. No injuries. Investigators requested.”

“Mayor Muriel Bowser celebrated the reopening of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and joined Events DC in announcing the addition of two locally-owned vendors inside the Convention Center, Ben’s Chili Bowl and Shop Made in DC.
“We have been inviting people to come back and experience DC, and it is always important to us that visitors are able to experience the real DC. It doesn’t get more DC than Ben’s Chili Bowl or a whole shop filled with items made by DC creatives,” said Mayor Bowser. “Spread the word: DC is open and so is our Convention Center.”

I live in Shaw near 9th and U, and I’ve absolutely had it with the off-road, ATVs, Polaris’, etc. that are PURPOSELY roaming the streets to cause a disturbance.

Update from MPD: “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, July 31, 2021, in the 700 block of O Street, Northwest.
At approximately 11:15 pm, members of the Third District were in the area of the listed location when they heard the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. A second adult male victim sought treatment at a local hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
The decedent has been identified as 31 year-old Kervin Sanches, of Northeast, DC. (more…)
