“Dear PoPville,

Can you do a follow up on the “Suspects Sought in Kidnapping while Armed (Gun) Offenses in the Third and Fourth Districts”?

I found someone’s phone in front of my house (14th and Allison St NW). It turned out to be a neighbor who was jumped, kidnapped and taken to different ATMs to get money out.

This happened Thursday morning, 1:09 am, my Nest doorbell captured it.

From MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating suspects in connection to Kidnapping while Armed (Gun) offenses that occurred in the First, Third and Fourth Districts.

8th and O Street, NW

Readers reported around 6:45pm Sunday:

“Shooting in Shaw on corner of Giant just now. Heard two shots. Police now blocking street off” Ed. Note: Semantics but this was likely shots fired where nobody was hit, fortunately, because I didn’t see a shooting report from MPD.

Unrelated but MPD reported at 3:20am: “Shooting in the 1800blk of 9th St NW. [around S Street, NW] No lookout at this time.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, August 23, 2021, in the 1800 block of 9th Street, Northwest.

The NIMBYs are out in full force against 18th Street Lounge. From 10th Street, NW near Blagden — what fresh hell is this? It would make me laugh if it wasn’t so troublingly alarmist.”

Ed. Note: Back in June we learned that Eighteenth Street Lounge (ESL) had signed a lease for its new location in Blagden Alley.
