From an email:

Supra (1205 11th Street, NW), DC’s first Georgian restaurant, set to open later this fall has just launched a kickstarter campaign. The campaign, details of which can be found here, is focused on fundraising for the restaurant’s artwork, which will feature pieces from Georgian, Russian and DC-based artists. Custom commissions include pieces from White Studio in Tbilisi (and artisans in the countryside), the Petrovka Art Studio in Moscow), and Schwa Design in Washington, DC. The owners, Jonathan and Laura Nelms, have also commissioned a Georgian street artist, Gagosh, who will paint a mural on the brick wall of the bar.

The rewards are varied, including t-shirts, Georgian alphabet post cards, khachapuri and khinkali classes, papakhi (a traditional, puffy Georgian hat, featured in the campaign’s video) and an opportunity to visit, tour and eat throughout Georgia. Check out the video for more details and an intro to the team, including the owners and Chef Malkhaz Maisashvili, former Embassy of Georgia chef, who makes some khinkali (Georgian soup dumplings) with Chef and Operations Manager Lonnie Zoeller.”

From a press release:

Winter has come and gone for Drink Company, and the team is poised to celebrate fall and fright in PUB DREAD all October long. The season is ripe for horror, which will dominate the spaces that previously hosted Cherry Blossom PUB, Game of Thrones PUB, and Miracle on 7th Street (1839-1843 7th Street NW).

PUB DREAD from Drink Company on Vimeo.

Co-owner Derek Brown says, “For us, Halloween is the perfect foil to create a pop-up space–you’ve got horror, camp and pop-culture all wrapped in one season. We’ve gone all out with this one and, from the decor to the drinks, I think Halloween heads are going to rejoice. Plus, you get to wear your costume 31 days this year, which is a total bonus.”

At PUB Dread, guests will celebrate Halloween for 31 day straight with cocktails like The Dead Will Walk the Earth and We All Float Down Here in the discomfort of The Haunted Woods and The Dollhouse. Expect plenty of frightful surprises that will challenge you to hold onto your drink. (more…)

The Hong Kong inspired kitchen will launch brunch this Saturday, September 9th. Much like their dinner menu, Tiger Fork’s brunch will feature “Dim Sum and then Some,” with shareable small-plates designed for the ultimate communal dining experience. Executive Chef Irvin Van Oordt created a menu inspired by traditional Hong Kong street food and Western-influenced dishes from the region, such as Happy Toast, a Hong Kong-style French toast topped with burnt coconut cream and condensed milk; and Congee, a traditional rice porridge with braised shitakes, a soft poached egg and yao cha guai (Chinese fried dough).

Full menu after the jump. (more…)
