“Car accident near Howard Barnes & Noble. Walked past a bit late and first responders were on the scene. Looks like a metrobus may have been involved because it was also stopped with flashers on. Nearly witnessed another accident when some idiot in an SUV started honking and went in to head on traffic to get around the bus!”

“The iconic Howard Deli, located on Georgia Avenue NW, sadly had to close its doors after 40 years of serving the community. Owner Kent “Kenny” Gilmore has suffered several strokes and can no longer continue maintaining the deli. Additionally, COVID significantly impacted sales at the deli since his beloved Howard University and Benjamin Banneker High School Faculty and Students were not physically present to create foot traffic into the deli. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle in reference to an Armed Robbery (Gun) of an Armored Car Employee offense that occurred on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in the 2300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 10:51 am, two suspects approached an employee of an armored car company at the listed location. The suspects brandished guns and demanded the US currency the employee was transporting. The victim complied and the suspects took the US currency. The suspects then attempted to take the employee’s handgun. When the suspects tried to remove it from the holster, the handgun discharged. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I saw a Vespa wipe-out in front of the new Whole Foods on Florida Ave NW because of a major slick of water that is omnipresent in the road. Thankfully the Vespa driver was OK and did not sustain any injuries. Since at least July when Whole Foods opened, water has gently seeped onto the street from a manhole in the middle of Florida Ave, just north of W Street NW. (more…)
