Joining the annals of awesome animals hitching rides comes an instant classic. And a corgi no less.

Thanks to Lex for sharing this awesomeness:

“Saw this woman on a bike, with a corgi, in a backpack (!!) near the Georgia Ave metro this morning. I don’t know who she is, but she and her doggo are clearly doing things right. Definitely put a smile on my face first thing in the morning!” (more…)

3819 14th St, NW via Redfin

“Dear PoPville,

Someone posted this Redfin listing to a new condo noting that the “Lower Level Commercial Space will be a 2nd Location for a Boutique Coffee Shop from Georgetown”.

After some calling around, one of my neighbors was able to confirm that it will be Grace Street Coffee opening a second location.

I guess they are doing their coffee roasting there for the first few months and then opening up a store front ~6 months from now.”

STAY TUNED.

From MPD at 6:22pm:

“Shooting at 1822 hours in the 400 block of Varnum Street NW. Lookout for Suspect B/M wearing a ski mask.”

From MPD around 7:30pm:

“Earlier this evening members of the Fifth District responded to a call for sounds of gunshots in the 1300 Block of Saratoga Ave NE. Further police investigation determined that an adult male victim had been shot at the location. All further information regarding this investigation will be released by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch which is handling the investigation.”

“Dear PoPville,

I am writing to you because my housemates and I are in desperate need of some assistance. On July 4th, I came home and discovered our home had caught fire because one of our reckless and careless housemates was setting off illegal fireworks in front of our home. Myself and my other two roommates, who were not home at the time, have lost everything we own except the clothes on our backs and our fur babies. Unfortunately no one had renter’s insurance, so we are really going thru a difficult time.

Myself and the other two ladies all work in the hospitality industry here in DC and we are really hoping that you could help us. We have started a GoFundMe page to help collect donations so we can find a new place to live and purchase the essentials. (more…)

Ed. Note: Safari DC had been ordered closed due to violence that originated in the club and ultimately a homicide.

14th and Randolph Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Talked to the owner of the 14th st Mini Mart at 14th and Randolph. He also owns the vacant Chinese place next store. The Chinese place has been totally gutted and he said he plans on opening an Ethiopian cafe with coffee in the next three months. The space between the mini mart and the Randolph Tower parking lot will be a patio. Hopefully his timeline is right. Would be a really exciting addition to the neighborhood.”
