Thanks to all who messaged about the van that ended up in the middle of Sherman Circle yesterday:

“Odd Sherman Circle crash from today. Incredible the vehicle ended up in the middle of the circle. Police temporarily taped off the area. Car malfunction? Thankfully, looked like no one was hurt.”

“The kicker is how far the truck made it into the circle. It ran all the way up to the center and hit a light pole. All air bags deployed. Park police had it all taped off and waiting for tow truck. This happened about 4pm.”

Tomorrow Morning (Tues.) There will be “an active threat exercise on the campus of Roosevelt High School”

“On Tuesday, November 5, 2019 the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), in conjunction with the support of the Executive Office of the Mayor and relevant district agencies, will conduct an active threat exercise on the campus of Roosevelt High School. The exercise will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. During this time, emergency vehicles and personnel may be seen moving about the campus. Please note, there is no real emergency or cause for alarm. The goal of this exercise is to improve upon the District’s ability to protect our students and staff, save lives, and reduce injuries.

We understand the subject of emergencies and active threat scenarios can be uncomfortable. For this reason, the exercise will take place on a professional development day when students are not in the building for classes.”

“Dear PoPville,

My wife and I were wondering if our baby daughter’s new fall and winter clothes had arrived yesterday and were surprised to not find them on the porch. We looked back through the footage on our camera and discovered that a package thief had walked right on up and taken them at about 2pm on Tuesday afternoon. A minute prior, he could be seen walking up the street, saying hello to our neighbor, and then exclaiming that he “forgot his keys” and walking away back towards the nearby grocery store. (more…)

Shots Fired in Petworth around 12:50am and then around 2am

“On October 15, 2019, at approximately 12:50am, MPD units responded out to investigate the sounds of gunshots in the 4400 block of 9th St NW. MPD located a shell casing in the area, but there no reported injuries or damage to any property.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact MPD at (202) 727-9099.”

“At approximately 2:00 am this morning, members of the Metropolitan Police were called to the 4200 block of 7th Street, Northwest, for the sound of gunshots. Officer canvassed the area and discovered cartridge casings in the 4200 block of 7th Street, Northwest.
