cappy
828 Upshur Street, NW

Word is finally out on who’s taking over the Cappy’s Crabs space on Upshur – City Paper reports:

“While Japan will be the leading culinary influence for both the food and drinks, the restaurant is very much wrapped up in the personalities and viewpoints of its young, first-time restaurateurs. [Carlie Steiner and Kevin Tien] That’s why they’re dubbing it “New Japanese” cuisine because Tien, the executive chef, will punch up traditional Japanese preparations with Latin, Southeast Asian, and Korean flavors.

Himitsu will start by serving dinner Tuesdays-Saturdays from 5 p.m. to close. They will not take reservations. Instead, seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Mid-October is the projected opening date.”

On Facebook they shared on Saturday:

“Gettin’ lit @himitsudc // see you in a few weeks!!”

Stay tuned for an exact opening date.

“Lost Cat Please Help- Rock Creek Church Rd NW

We live on Rock Creek Church Road NW right near the intersection with Georgia Ave (near the metro). He got out around 7:15, and got spooked so he bolted. He is a gray cat with black stripes. The undersides of his back paws are black and his left ear is clipped. His name is Woodrow, but like most cats, he doesn’t really respond to his name. He’s exceptionally friendly, but we imagine he’s very scared right now (and wet), so he’ll likely be hidden somewhere small and dry. He’s likely very skittish, so if anyone finds him they can contact us at [email protected]. He’s also chipped, so people can also call the Humane Society at 202-576-6664. They’ll give directions to make sure he gets to them, and then back to us.”

petworth

From Metro Transit Police:

“Metro Transit Police are investigating a reported kidnapping in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C.

The victim, an adult female, reported to police that she was waiting for a bus at the corner of New Hampshire Ave, NW, and Georgia Ave, NW, around 1 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday, September 27, 2016) when she was approached by two unknown men.

After initially engaging the victim in conversation, the males told the victim to come with them and threatened to harm her if she did not comply.

According to the victim, the men forced her to walk with them to a vehicle a short distance away. Once inside, the suspects asked the victim where she lived and then drove to her residence in Hyattsville, Md., where they stole valuables and cash. The suspects then left the apartment and fled the area.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident. (more…)

refugees-welcome

Thanks to Legba Carrefour for sharing:

“Someone wheatpasted pro-refugee posters atop the anti-Muslim posters, I *believe* they went up in support of the Alt Right/Neo-Nazi conference happening down at the Reagan Bldng next month, across from the Petworth Safeway.”

Ed. Note: From the you can’t make this stuff up files, The NPI Conference:

“Friday, November 18
7 — 10:30 PM
Washington, DC

IRL (In Real Life) is a causal, colorful, and irreverent gathering and steak dinner, to celebrates the Alt Right. It takes place in downtown Washington, DC, on the eve of Become Who We Are. Hosted by Richard Spencer, IRL will feature Tila Tequila, Ramzpaul, and other special guests.”

IDAVOX reported:

“The next National Policy Institute (NPI) conference will be held at the same place as the last NPI event – the Ronald Wilson Reagan Building in Washington, DC. It will be the same old thing as before, hating Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims and Jews (that is guaranteed with Kevin MacDonald among the speakers) and every racist internet troll coming out to meet and network with one another. But this time, there’s a treat in store: A-List talent! Well, A-List talent as far as they are concerned, but the rest of us might put this one in maybe the x or y area to be honest.

Folks, National Policy Institute managed to score former reality show star and occasional rapper Tila Tequila for a pre-conference party the night before! We are not kidding!”
