Man Shot 11pm Saturday Night Near Raymond Rec in Petworth

“Shortly before 11 PM on August 19, 2017, the Metropolitan Police Department ShotSpotter system detected possible gunshots in the 3600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, NW. Responding units located at adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. A crime scene was located in the 900 block of Quincy Street, NW.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call 202-727-9099 or send a text to 50411.”

“On today’s date at 2:45 pm – Fourth District units responded to the 4100 block of 14th Street, NW, in reference to the Sound of Gunshots.

Upon arrival on the scene – units located evidence, thus the scene is being processed.

There are street closures at the following locations: 14th Street – between Shepherd and Upshur Streets, NW, north and southbound.”

“Dear PoPville,

How come some restaurants become “hot” and other seemed doomed to fail? Specifically, my partner and I went to Sala Thai (aka “Pantry”) in Petworth tonight. The decor has been considerably improved, and the food was tasty. And, other than us, there wasn’t a soul in the place. Now, I won’t get into a debate about the best Thai food in the city, but our meal was at least as good as other places that are generally packed (eg. Beau Thai). So maybe this is partly a plea for neighbors to visit Sala Thai so we don’t lose the one restaurant on that block. But more generally, I’m curious how a restaurant like this can become so “cold” when most places around it are packed…?”

“We fought it as long as we could but the neighborhood has changed so much around us in the last 10 years we sort of had to.”

Speaking of which the Derby is turning Ten October 16th so prepare for a big party to celebrate. And this Saturday is the Red Derby’s Pulp Fiction Prom:

“​Assault with Intent to Kill-3600 block Georgia Ave NW

This morning at 2:15 AM, an adult male victim became involved in a dispute with two suspects. The suspects began to beat the victim with a tire iron, rendering him unconscious. 4D units stopped the suspects and placed them under arrest. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. Arrested are Sean Plumber of NE Washington DC and Dennises Diaz of no fixed address. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call 202-727-9099.”
