Last we heard back in May, the old Crunch space was possibly going to become a bookstore. Sadly that has fallen through. HOWEVER, and I suppose this a bit niche, I hear that an upscale squash studio is now likely taking the space.

14th and Fairmont Street, NW
“Dear PoPville,
I live in Columbia Heights and was on my way to run an errand (Wednesday, 12:15pm), waiting at the 14th and Fairmont (south) bus stop, when a group of armed men in bulletproof vests came running from the direction of the corner gas station firing their weapons towards the group of about 10 people waiting at the bus stop.
I was hit in the hip by a long metal taser. They came back a little while later and identified themselves verbally as US Marshals. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
So my block 14TH Street NE between Constitution Avenue and C Street has been without water since 9:30 am (and will be until 5:30 p.m.) but DC Water forgot to actually notify us, so no one was prepared. Other nearby streets were notified but not our block. A DC Water guy told me at 10:45 am that it was a “mistake” for our block to get shut off and that it would return quickly, but it never returned.
