On November 20th a reader wrote us: “Recently went to our Bullfrog Bagels on H Street and the old Star and Shamrock side of the place is under construction. The Bullfrog staff said they would ultimately be moving somewhere else on H street but don’t know where or when.”

Chief of Police Announces Two Juvenile Curfew Zones for this weekend – Navy Yard and U Street

“The Metropolitan Police Department announces the establishment of two Juvenile Curfew Zones.

The Juvenile Curfew Second Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 gives the Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department the authority to order a Juvenile Curfew Zone in an area where large groups of youths are gathering or intend to gather in a manner that poses a risk of substantial harm to public safety.

“Ivy and Coney, the preferred dive bar of 4 out of 5 shickers (and the one your Bubbe explicitly warned you about), is overjoyed to celebrate Hanukkah with all of you again!

Beginning Monday, December 1st through the end of the month, the Manischewitz shall flow, the dreidels shall spin, and fun will be had by most. Mercifully, Hanukkah arrives fashionably late this year (starting 12/14), giving us a solid two weeks to pregame and mentally prepare for the miracle of oil lasting eight days (or the miracle of us lasting eight shots). Update from Governor Patrick Morrisey: “We are now receiving conflicting reports about the condition of our two Guard members and will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information.

Our prayers are with these brave service members, their families, and the entire Guard community.”

Update 3:59pm: Governor Patrick Morrisey

“It is with great sorrow that we can confirm both members of the West Virginia National Guard who were shot earlier today in Washington, DC have passed away from their injuries. These brave West Virginians lost their lives in the service of their country. We are in ongoing contact with federal officials as the investigation continues.

Our entire state grieves with their families, their loved ones, and the Guard community. West Virginia will never forget their service or their sacrifice, and we will demand full accountability for this horrific act.”

3pm – “UPDATE: The scene is secured. One suspect is in custody.”

“Just heard 2 rounds of gunshots right off of Farragut square around 10 mins ago. Cop cars are arriving to and blocking off the intersection of 17th and I street, near Farragut west metro.”
