Fantastic New Mural in NoMa – Swamppoodle Dog Park

3rd and L Street, NE

Thanks to G. for sending from Swamppoodle Dog Park:

The NoMa BID writes:

Joel Bergner just completed a stunning new piece behind Swampoodle Park! At the center is a young child holding her vision of the community, surrounded by playful, kid-like illustrations that celebrate imagination and hope.

3rd grade students from Two Rivers PCS even helped bring the mural to life by painting houses and neighborhood scenes with the help of their art teacher. The adorable dogs on the mural are inspired by the ones you see walking around NoMa every day. 🐶

Storm clouds on the edges nod to life’s challenges, while a protective figure—a woman who may be seen as a mother, teacher, or mentor—looks toward a sky filled with birds symbolizing possibility. Joel’s own family also appears in the mural, making it even more special.

This piece is community storytelling at its best & we’re so excited for this new mural in NoMa.”
