Thanks to Daniel for sending: “There’s a new orange theory opening by the wharf near the cvs tat 798 Maine Avenue. Also, their Facebook page says opening in mid-November.”

“Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW), a joint venture of Hoffman & Associates (formerly PN Hoffman) and Madison Marquette, the co-developers of The Wharf, along with joint venture partner, Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), closed on the largest private construction loan in the city’s history in the amount of $847 million.
The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS), led the nonrecourse transaction, along with syndicate members Starwood Capital Group, Mack Real Estate Group and Pentagon Federal Credit Union.

“Dear PoPville,
his morning, before 7am, I woke up to the sound of about 15 measured explosions (?), though I’m not sure what they were. It sounded like fireworks or maybe construction equipment that is used when laying a building’s foundation (there’s a lot of construction around here). The sound was so powerful that it caused my house to vibrate. It continued to happen every 10 minutes or so, with the last sequence sounding much more like fireworks, with an uneven distribution. Does anyone know what the heck it was? Not sure if it’s connected to Ft. McNair?”

Responding officers located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers are still on the scene actively investigating. Roads are closed in the area. “On 9/9/19, at approximately 12:24 a.m., officers from the First District responded to the 1500 block of First Street SW for the sounds of gunshots. While searching the area, the officers found an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck several times. Additionally, two windows of a nearby building were also shattered. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the gunfire. There were no usable descriptions of suspects on the scene. (more…)
