“On September 18, 2019, at approximately 8:10 PM, First District members responded to the area of 200 P St SW for the sounds of gunshots. Responding officers located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers are still on the scene actively investigating. Roads are closed in the area. “On 9/9/19, at approximately 12:24 a.m., officers from the First District responded to the 1500 block of First Street SW for the sounds of gunshots. While searching the area, the officers found an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck several times. Additionally, two windows of a nearby building were also shattered. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the gunfire. There were no usable descriptions of suspects on the scene. (more…)


Unfortunately I was out of town over the weekend and received many messages about crime reports over the weekend. While I try to tweet these out as I get them, I’m posting them here for posterity and our historical record. Thanks to all who messaged me and apologies for the late reply.

From Friday:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a Burglary One and Second Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Friday, August 30, 2019, in the 1300 block 30th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 1:30 AM, the suspect gained entry to a private residence. Once inside, the suspect sexually assaulted a female victim. The suspect then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-30 years in age, with bald or short hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727 9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

From Saturday August 31st:

“The First District is currently conducting an investigation into shots being fired in the 1100 block of I St SE. At this time no one has been struck. A vehicle in the area was struck.

The suspects involved in this incident have been described as 2 black male juveniles riding a blue and black Revel Moped. (more…)

This is the first time that the floating homes of the Wharf Gangplank Marina have been open to the public since the opening of the District Wharf in October, 2017.
