Crime Reports from the 3-Day weekend

Unfortunately I was out of town over the weekend and received many messages about crime reports over the weekend. While I try to tweet these out as I get them, I’m posting them here for posterity and our historical record. Thanks to all who messaged me and apologies for the late reply.

From Friday:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a Burglary One and Second Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Friday, August 30, 2019, in the 1300 block 30th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 1:30 AM, the suspect gained entry to a private residence. Once inside, the suspect sexually assaulted a female victim. The suspect then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 20-30 years in age, with bald or short hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727 9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

From Saturday August 31st:

“The First District is currently conducting an investigation into shots being fired in the 1100 block of I St SE. At this time no one has been struck. A vehicle in the area was struck.

The suspects involved in this incident have been described as 2 black male juveniles riding a blue and black Revel Moped. (more…)

Boat owners and docents will also be available to answer questions about the boat‐homes and the liveaboard lifestyle.

This is the first time that the floating homes of the Wharf Gangplank Marina have been open to the public since the opening of the District Wharf in October, 2017. “four suspects walked up behind the victim and pushed him inside one of the residences”

“On July 16, 2019 at approximately 7:00 pm the victim was walking to meet a friend in the 1300 block First Street SW. The victim called his friend to let her know he was at the location when four suspects walked up behind the victim and pushed him inside one of the residences. The suspects went through the victims pockets taking his property while armed with a hand gun and knife. Fortunately the victim was not injured. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. (more…)

Shooting in Columbia Heights; Shots Fired in Navy Yard/Hill East and Daytime Shots Fired in SW Waterfront

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 2900 block of 14th Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.
