“PROBABLE FATAL SHOOTING— 4th St at M St SW-DC near the Safeway grocery store and Waterfront Metro. Search in progress for a suspect.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, in the 1100 block of 4th Street, Southwest.

At approximately 5:23 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. (more…)

1:30pm Shooting Near Nats Park, MPD “quickly stopped two potential shooters and recovered two illegal firearms”

“This afternoon at 1:30 PM, First District patrol officers heard gunshots in the 1300 block of Half St SW. They quickly stopped two potential shooters and recovered two illegal firearms. Later, a gunshot victim turned up at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. (more…)

“Be aware, I was jumped by 3 teenagers Saturday night around 8pm. Lighting is nonexistent in front of the library and the construction trailer narrows pathway and blocks visibility from others. A good spot for an assault. Stay away….It occurred between I St. and Wesley Pl., SW @ the SW Library. Yes, the incident was reported to police. Robbed, no. Injured, yes. I got my head bashed in pretty good. I think I have a concussion. I got lucky, I was walking my buddy’s dog (pitbull mix) and after they hit me I didn’t go down all the way or blackout & screamed MOLLY, GET’EM and they scattered. She is tough looking but just gentle giant and just stood there wagging her tail.”

Sunday was not a good day

In addition to the shooting in Park View which is now a homicide the following also occurred yesterday.

From MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the Unit Block of N Street, Southwest.

At approximately 2:15 pm, members of the First District responded to the rear of the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Eric Delonte Barbour, of Southwest, DC. (more…)

Early Morning Shooting on H Street, NE Sunday; Shots Fired in SW Saturday Morning

“On 1/19/20 at approximately 0430 hours, First District officers responded to the 1300 block of H Street NE for the sounds of gunshots. On the scene, officers located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment. The suspect is described as a male wearing light colored clothing.

First District detectives are actively investigating this shooting. If anyone has information about the incident, please contact the First District detectives office at (202) 299-2025, or the Metropolitan Police Department’s Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099.”

From MPD [Saturday]:

“At approximately 11:20 am, an unknown suspect discharged a firearm in the 200 block of N Street Southwest. After discharging several rounds, the suspect fled in a dark colored four door sedan. Assigned area patrol officers immediately entered the block and initiated an investigation. No injuries were reported to any persons at this time. Anyone with information regarding this event should call the Command Information Center at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50-411.”

Frozen Potomac

Speaking of which the NWS warned:

“Black Ice Possible Early Monday Morning

Patchy fog and cold temperatures will result in an isolated threat for black ice early Monday morning. The best chance for slippery spots will be on bridges and overpasses near bodies of water. Remain alert for slippery spots, especially on bridges and overpasses.”

Momo Chicken & Grill coming to SW Waterfront

Thanks to a reader for sending: “Is a new David Chang restaurant coming to SW? Not positive it’s momofuku but the name makes it seem like it may be.”

Hmm, I don’t think there is a Chang connection – while the liquor license placard posted for MOMO says:

“A new Retailer’s Class C Restaurant with a seating capacity of 74 and Total Occupancy Load of 80.”

The building’s website in SW has a teaser with the full name, Momo Chicken and Grill (see photo below.)

Momo Chicken & Grill’s Facebook for their Bethesda location says:

“MoMo is the place where Korean Fried Chicken is seasoned with Jazz Music. With its rustic design that combines musical antiques and industrial elements from 19th century, Momo will comfort you with soul food, drink and music.”
