“This is a traffic advisory from the Capitol Riverfront BID regarding a significant traffic impact expected in our neighborhood starting Monday, February 10th. We are sharing this information to help residents and businesses prepare and plan accordingly.

The Naval Support Activity Washington (NSAW) headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard is anticipating a substantial increase in personnel returning to in-person work on Monday.

NSAW estimates between 8,000 and 10,000 vehicles will be attempting to enter their gates as early as 5:00 AM. This represents a significant increase in traffic along M St SE and 11th St SE. While NSAW is implementing measures to mitigate congestion, backups are anticipated. (more…)

“The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred inside a residence in Navy Yard.

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at approximately 4:28 p.m., First District officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of 1st Street, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. (more…)

“The Metropolitan Police Department announces multiple arrests made after the peaceful resolution of a barricade situation inside a Navy Yard apartment complex.

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, at approximately 12:55 a.m., members of the First District responded to a call for a burglary inside an apartment complex in the 1100 block of First Street, Southeast. A victim reported multiple suspects entered their apartment and demanded property, but then realized they were in the wrong unit and left without obtaining property. The suspects then gained entry to neighboring unit. When officers arrived, the suspects were still inside that apartment. Officers declared a barricade and requested the assistance of MPD’s Emergency Response Team.

Several hours later an emergency DC Superior Court search warrant was obtained, (more…)
