From Suzie Q:
“Suzie Q’s, a retro inspired neighborhood bar, is set to open its doors in early May in the heart of Washington D.C.’s Navy Yard district. Located at 71 Potomac Ave. SE, Suzie Q’s promises a laid-back experience with affordable drinks, great BBQ, and a tribute to 70’s sports and rock ‘n’ roll culture.
Suzie Q’s is the brainchild of seasoned D.C. bar operators Elliot Howe and Tony Radwan. “We built this place with our neighbors and fans in mind,” said Radwan. “Whether you’re a local looking for your regular spot or just coming through to catch a game at Nationals Park or Audi Field, we’ve got the food, drinks, and atmosphere to make you feel right at home.” Howe said, “We wanted Suzie Q’s to feel like that bar you come back to, again and again,” said “It’s for our neighbors, our friends, and everyone who’s looking for a place that feels easy, and welcoming.”
The drink menu leans into fun, tongue-in-cheek beer & shot combos with names derived from staff and guests alike. The bar will boast about 25 beers and will have your usual call and top shelf liquors.
Suzie Q’s food program is helmed by BBQ veteran Josh Cundy, formerly of Hill Country and founder of Food Biz Mentor, who brings more than a decade of BBQ experience to the table. The menu will feature smoked brisket, St. Louis-style ribs, and pulled pork, accompanied by hearty dishes like chili-mac and generous, shareable nachos. Suzie Q’s Kitchen will offer extended hours, staying open later than most establishments in Navy Yard—providing guests with a much-needed late-night dining option.
Designed by acclaimed artist Billy Colbert, Suzie Q’s interior is a visual homage to community and culture, showcasing an eclectic mix of youth and pro sports jerseys alongside vintage rock band tees from the ‘70s and and early ‘80s. Patrons can even place bids on the displayed shirts, with proceeds from sales—finalized every 6–12 months.
Open seven days a week with a late last call and food served until near closing, Suzie Q’s aims to become Navy Yard’s go-to spot for comfort, camaraderie, and good times.
