From a press release:

“RFK Stadium, once featured every Sunday throughout the NFL season, will return to hosting prime time football on Friday, September 18 for the AT&T Nation’s Football Classic®. The annual football game pitting the 100-year storied rivals, Hampton University and Howard University, will be nationally televised live on ESPNU and streamed across the globe on ESPN platforms.

“Events DC is excited to bring the Hampton-Howard rivalry back to RFK Stadium as part of the AT&T Nation’s Football Classic,” said Erik A. Moses, senior vice president and managing director of Events DC, Sports & Entertainment Division. “When we developed the Classic in 2011, the plan was always to feature notable historically black colleges and universities on a grand scale in RFK Stadium and having ESPN as the broadcast network this year enhances the platform.

Tickets for the 2015 AT&T Nation’s Football Classic® are currently on sale through ticketmaster.com. Regular priced tickets start at $25 (plus fees) with group discount rates and suite level experiences available as well. For additional information, please visit www.NationsFootballClassic.com.”

From the Washington Post:

“A pregnant woman biking home from work was stabbed Tuesday afternoon near Congressional Cemetery in Southeast Washington.

The victim said she does not know what the man’s intentions were — perhaps he was trying to steal her backpack, she said…. and just moved to the District from Hawaii about a month ago.”

I am currently out of town and my pet- and house-sitter reported that there was a shoot-out yesterday in the 600 block of Tuckerman Street, NW, last night. I looked at listserv messages but didn’t see anything to this effect (not sure if I missed it). Could MPD please provide more info about this?!”

A reader reports:

“Today at 6:30 walking into Harris Teeter on Potomac Ave & Pennsylvania SE, a few cops run by & grab this woman wearing a red mask who was being held by (I believe) the security guard. She put up a fight. Sounds like (from other patrons) she had been running around the store, I don’t know if she was causing damage or stealing or anything.

Right now (7:00) there are 10 cop cars & an ambulance on Pennsylvania at the bus stop half a block away from Harris Teeter. Not sure what’s happening or if these are even related incidents. Guess things go a little crazy when it’s hot outside.”
