“Alert: Shooting Investigation at 1414hrs in the 1100 block of Massachusetts Ave NW. No lookout
DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911”

Update from MPD:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting inside of a building in the 1100 block of Massachusetts Ave NW. An adult male is being treated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound to the torso.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

Sakina Grill Fundraiser Has Raised $278,697 and counting

On Monday we, along with many others, posted about the fundraiser for Sakina Halal Grill Thanks to Scott for sending the update, as of 9:10am Friday they have raised $278,697.

“Kazi Manan introduced a new model of empathy and kindness in America when he opened his restaurant to every person who needs a refuge from their daily hunger. He has never differentiated between a paying or non-paying customer as he is constantly aware of his journey to success – and the difficulties along the way. July 2019 Daytime “traffic related dispute” shooting now a homicide

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a Homicide offense that occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, in the 3rd Street Tunnel near Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 2:52 pm, the suspect brandished a handgun and fired at the victim after a traffic related dispute. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Thanks to Sherri, Jaclyn, and Hilary for sending: “Signage for Yardbird is up on New York Ave! Looks like it is replacing Acadiana.”

Acadiana closed after many years on Dec. 31st 2018.

In October 2018 we posted some scuttlebutt that Miami’s Yardbird Southern Table & Bar could be coming to D.C. Scuttlebutt confirmed! Yardbird’s website says opening 2021. Check out their Miami menus here and stay tuned.
