“Dear PoPville,

I live at 16th and Columbia Road NW. We and our neighbors have been dealing with noise on and off from the roadwork for the 16th Street bus project — while working from home — since February or March. Now, we found out last night that the contractors are going to be doing resurfacing work at our intersection overnight, potentially every night this week.

This work is loud, with constant starting and stopping of machinery that shakes the room. I managed to get to sleep while blasting white noise through my earbuds and wearing noise-canceling headphones. But that only worked for a couple of hours, and then I was awake until well after they finally quit work after 3 am.

This is all so that commuters don’t have to deal with roadwork during the day. Seriously? (more…)

“TL;DR — Following series of thefts in our building, one of us caught the thief, presented to officer, asked for help. Police officer let the guy go”

Leslie writes: “Thief broke into our building again–at 6pm.
One of the building managers chased, CAUGHT HIM, dragged him to @DCPoliceDept
officer. Said, we have multiple videos of him stealing bikes and packages.

Officer wouldn’t book the guy. “Where’s the video?”

Suns Cinema, Black Cat, and 9:30 Club/Anthem et al will join those requiring vaccines and/or negative covid tests

“Starting this Thursday 8/12 we will begin requiring proof of vaccination upon entry to Suns. If you were vaxxed in DC or MD a digital copy of your vaccination can be found at http://myirmobile.com. For VA, http://vdh.virgina.gov https://instagr.am/p/CSXW42BHfov/”

From Black Cat:

“Effective 8/13, patrons who wish to attend an event must show either a completed COVID-19 vaccination card, photo of a completed COVID-19 vaccination card, or proof of a negative test taken within 72 hours of the event.”

From 9:30 Club:

Suns Cinema, Black Cat and 9:30 Club will join ThinkFoodGroup, Showtime, area theatres, The Pug, Public Option, 1310 Kitchen & Bar, Ivy and Coney, Pitchers/ALOHA some fitness studios (including VIDA) and Danny Meyer’s restaurants which previously announced the same or similar.
