Whoa part four – we now know who’s coming to the former Cork space (now located up the block) – The Meatball Shop!! Eater DC reports:

“Singularly focused New York chain the Meatball Shop plans to open its first restaurant outside the five boroughs this summer along D.C.’s thriving 14th Street corridor.

Meatball Shop plans to fill that void by providing sit-down lunch service — along with happy hour, dinner, late-night dining, and weekend brunch.”

Check out their NYC menus here.

Updates as they get closer to opening.

Ed. Note: Yes, yes we recall D.C.’s last meatballs adventure, fingers crossed for this one!

“Dear PoPville,

My name is Olivia and I live near the house that caught fire in Logan Circle on Thursday morning. I have three roommates and we moved into the house last November, so we’ve gotten to know the Gunter family pretty well. We set up a GoFundMe to raise money for them in this awful tragedy. We’re so heartbroken for the family in what they’re going through. They lost their longtime home and have two family members recovering from serious injuries and burns in the hospital.”

Please see the GoFundMe Page here.

Update: Identified!! Thanks all.

“Dear PoPville,

I was one of the first people on the scene of the Logan Circle fire last week and along with two other passersby helped evacuate and care for the victims before DC Fire & EMS arrived. Two us stayed long enough to give our contact info to the fire department, but a third had to leave sooner. His name was Hunter, and I believe he lived a few blocks away (around Vermont Ave), but we didn’t think to get much more info than that. FEMS is hoping to get in contact with him as well to say thanks.”

Ed. Note: Blue Bottle Coffee will be taking over the old Sweetgreen space next door.

From an email:

“On Monday, February 26, Sweetgreen will officially open the doors to its new Logan Circle location, just next door to the original P Street shop, at 1461 P St. NW.

The new, larger shop, allows more people in the community to dine in, and introduces online/app ordering to the Logan Circle neighborhood. In addition, the shop features art by Marleigh Culver, a Virginia-born, Brooklyn-based artist.

100% of opening day proceeds will benefit Dreaming Out Loud to develop the farm at Kelly Miller Middle School, an innovative, community-based urban farm in Ward 7 aimed at increasing access to healthy food.

The shop will be open Monday to Sunday, 10:30am – 10pm.”
