I was walking home from a work happy hour around 10:45pm on S Street near the Masonic Temple when a guy came up behind me and assaulted me. He wrapped his arm around me and shoved his hand up my dress. I was on the phone and in total shock. I managed to get away and he ran off when he saw another person coming down 16th St NW. He was a white male, had a hoodie on, and was maybe about 5’10. Just a good reminder to be aware of your surroundings.”

Thanks to Molly for sending “And there are tables and the counter is up inside too.” This is the old Sweetgreen space. Sweetgreen moved next door. The Logan Circle Blue Bottle will follow their recent opening in Union Station. Stay tuned for an exact opening date.

“Co-owners and close friends Vipul Kapila, Chef Sanjay Mandhaiya and Chef Shankar Puthran announce the soft opening of Pappe (pronounced pah-pay), an Indian neighborhood restaurant, at 1317 14th Street, NW in Washington, DC. As part of the soft opening week, all guests will receive a 15% discount as the staff and team work on perfecting food and service. This special discount will be available during soft opening from June 4 to June 10.

Pappe’s menu, overseen by Chef Sanjay and Chef Shankar, is mostly Northern Indian in flavor with some items from the South. Offerings include familiar appetizers such as Samosas prepared traditionally with potatoes and served with tamarind and cilantro-mint chutneys, Crab Pav – a Goan style crab cake and Vegetable Uttapam a dosa-like dish served with sambar, coconut and garlic chutney. Entrees feature standards like Chicken Tikka Masala, alongside Junglee Laal Maas – bone-in goat with garlic tomato chutney and red curry and Allepey Fish Curry – Chilean seabass with coconut, curry leaves and green chilies. Vegetable entrees come in full-size as well as half-size/side portions and include Palak Paneer – spinach, garlic and paneer, Vegetable Korma – seasonal vegetables in Korma sauce, and Chana Pindi – slow-cooked chickpeas in roasted spices. The Meatball Shop is coming to the former Cork space next to Peregrine.
“New Restaurant serving a seasonally-focused menu, five types of meatballs, selection of sauces, veggie sides and handmade ice cream sandwiches. Live Entertainment will be provided only for special events. Total Occupancy Load of 80 with seating for 74. Sidewalk Café with 8 seats.”

A worker on scene told me they should be open by the first week of June and a peek inside shows they are just about ready to roll:
“Milk Bar will open its third location in D.C. in Logan Circle, right at the corner of 15th Street and Church Street NW. Located at 1525 15th St. NW, the 2,382 square-foot bakery will be the largest Milk Bar bakery to-date, serving as the bakery’s flagship location in the region. Housed in a former auto-mechanic shop, the Logan Circle outpost will feature Milk Bar’s first baking classroom in D.C. and second nationwide, and it will be the first shop with seating for guests to dine in-store and in an outdoor courtyard.”

I live at 14th and N, NW. Right now 14th street is undergoing its seemingly annual construction. I have to walk down 14th St in those 2 blocks between N and P several times a day. The harassment is driving me out of my mind. It seems especially bad this year. Yesterday I was on my way to teach a yoga class and three workers had a conversation around me, “Ooooooh, here’s a skinny bitch.” “Yeah but she got a fat ass.” “I’d f**k her.” Imagine hearing something like that around 4 times a day, if not more.
It’s a gauntlet. Add to that the drunken tourists in the evenings screaming ridiculousness and it wears a woman down. There’s not really another route to take without going a few blocks out of the way, and I still have to walk through their line of comments to get where I’m going or get home.
I know this is the song as old as time, but it’s gotta stop. Is there anyone at the city to report this to? What action is there to take? Or do readers at least have clever lines to shut them down cold?“

Back in February Milk Bar confirmed a Logan Circle location:
