Thought you might be interested in this house going up – a teardown of a bungalow and a build of a crazy big house, totally out of proportion to what’s around it. I don’t know the zoning laws but this is taking up the whole lot. You don’t even see the two car garage to the right.

I’ve been really bummed about Carpe Librum’s Farragut location closing, so you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across a new location in the Mazza Gallerie last night! The man working there told me they’d been open for a few weeks and are planning on making it a permanent location. Their posted hours are Mon-Fri 10am-8pm, Sat 10am-7pm, and Sun noon-6pm. Greatest reuse of an old ATM space? It’s right outside the Friendship Heights metro in the same building as the Michael’s craft shop. It is beautiful. Like wheels on luggage, I can only wonder why it has taken so long for someone to invent this:
My only question is – why in the world is this thing not open 24 hours a day?!?!? Anyway, if there is any justice in this world, expect to find one near you soon!!

Washingtonian reported yesterday:
“Maryland-based celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio has closed Range as of today.”
RANGE opened up back in December 2012.
The Washingtonian story notes: “His casual sandwich shop, Lunchbox, will continue to operate in the Pavilion.” and “He plans to open a still-unnamed restaurant within the forthcoming luxury Conrad hotel at CityCenterDC next year.”
This rental is located in Friendship Heights. The Craigslist ad says:

Back in March we shared some scuttlebutt saying the long time, low key Chads of Friendship Heights was for sale. Apparently it sold. The Washington Post reports:
“Tony Kornheiser announced on his podcast Tuesday that an ownership group that includes himself, former Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams and TV host Maury Povich purchased Chad’s, the longtime Friendship Heights restaurant and bar.”
Well, this is either gonna be absolutely awesome or absolutely awful. Stay tuned!
