“Sports Club LA in Foggy Bottom [1170 22nd St, NW] bought by Equinox.”

Any fans of Equinox? Updates when/if more info is known.

UPDATE: Confirmed! From a press release:

“Equinox today announced plans to acquire the Sports Club/LA properties in New York, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Washington D.C., as well as the Reebok Sports Club/NY location in New York City from affiliates of Millennium Partners. New Hampshire Ave between Washington Circle and M St, NW becoming Two-Way

“There will be a new two-way traffic pattern implemented on New Hampshire Avenue, between M Street and Washington Circle, starting on or about Tuesday, June 17, 2014.

This traffic pattern change is a key milestone as DDOT moves toward the completion of its New Hampshire Avenue Streetscape Project. The new two-way traffic pattern will help facilitate bike travel on the two new bike lanes along the corridor and improve connections for motorists and local businesses.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place to advise drivers, cyclists and pedestrians about the change on this corridor from a one-way to two-way traffic pattern. Travelers who frequent this section of New Hampshire Avenue NW are urged to stay alert and use caution in the area.”

This house has it all – nice garden, interesting sculpture, and a pretty sweet coffee/mojito balcony, too!

I do kind of wonder if the sculpture is some kind of ancient alien rune, though….”

This is part of Arts In Foggy Bottom Biennial Sculpture Exhibition:

“The 2014 exhi­bi­tion, Sculpted: His­to­ries Revealed, will fea­ture 16 con­tem­po­rary sculp­tures by 15 artists, most nation­ally rec­og­nized. This is the fourth iter­a­tion of the award-winning Arts in Foggy Bot­tom out­door sculp­ture exhibit, one of Washington’s lead­ing pro­grams for pre­sent­ing pub­lic art.”

Scammer Selling Fake Wizards Playoff Tickets Arrested – Heads Up for others like Him

“Dear PoPville,

Just wanted to let you know about a fraud case I was involved in earlier today. I met someone from Craigslist at 1pm and purchased two tickets to Friday nights Wizards game. I met the kid at the foggy bottom metro station. As I was walking back to the office, I realized that I had been scammed. So I emailed him from a different email account and pretended to be a different person. He agreed to sell me the exact same tickets that I had just bought. So I called the police and officer G Burgess came and met me. Then we got a plain clothes officer to meet us and they arrested him. The guy is 17 years old and going to be tried as a juvenile. He was taken to juvenile processing.

Apparently, he handed off the $300 I gave him immediately after I paid him. So by the time he was arrested, he didn’t have the money. Here are pictures of what the tickets look like that he sold me.

Someone has now posted a warning message letting people know that they ONLY have electronic tickets to the playoff games and that anyone who tries to sell hard tickets is scamming you.

For the folks who were upset about word of stepped up enforcement with drivers getting ticketed. A reader reports:

“Saw bike ticketing in Foggy Bottom this morning. 23rd & H St. NW. Strict enforcement! Don’t start before light turns green and apparently don’t stop too far over the crosswalk box. As usual $25 tickets. Cops said they will be ticketing all summer, both bikes as well as vehicles for driving recklessly due to high accident rates.”
