“On 7/31/2019, at approximately 11:40 PM, members of the Fifth District responded to the intersection of 3rd and U Street, NE, for the report of a carjacking. Once on the scene, the responding officers learned that the complainant had been sitting in his vehicle at the location when he was approached by three suspects. The suspects entered the complainant’s vehicle and told him to get out. When the complainant refused, the suspects began to strike the complainant about the face and body with closed fists. (more…)

“On Monday, June 17, 2019 at approximately 1:30 AM, Fifth District members were flagged down in the 1800 block of 2nd Street, NE by a victim who reported that two suspects had just attempted to carjack him at gunpoint.

The officers quickly located one of the suspects in the 300 block of V Street, NE and were able to apprehend him.

Also recovered during the investigation was a Glock 19 semi-automatic handgun, which was equipped with a high-capacity magazine and loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition.

This is yet another example of the fine work done each day by the members of the Fifth District!”

“On Monday, June 17, 2019 at approximately 1:27 AM, members of the Fifth District observed a vehicle that was taken during an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense on the Sixth District.

The vehicle fled from the officers, and a pursuit was initiated in the 1200 block of Brentwood Road, NE. The pursuit ended when the carjacked vehicle was involved in a traffic collision with a street curb in the 1900 block of 9th Street, NE.

Four suspects were subsequently placed under arrest for Armed Carjacking and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.”

“The Fifth District is investigating an Armed Robbery wherein the victim was stabbed by the suspect.

The offense occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at approximately 9:40 PM near the intersection of Summit Place and U Street, NE.

The suspect approached the adult female victim as she was walking, and demanded her property. As the victim complied, the suspect, without provocation, began to stab the victim numerous times. The suspect then fled from the scene on foot eastbound in the 100 block of U Street, NE with the victim’s property. (more…)

You can hear all the shots fired here. It is awful. Remember this was Saturday at 5:24pm.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, May 18, 2019, in the 100 block of T Street, Northeast.

At approximately 5:24 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an unconscious adult male victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. A second adult male victim was located suffering from a gunshot wound. The second victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. (more…)

“On 5/16/2019, at approximately 12:35 AM, an officer from the Fifth District was flagged down by a complainant reporting that they had just been carjacked. After interviewing the complainant, the officers learned that the complainant was parked in the 300 block of S Street, NE, when he was approached by five suspects. One of the suspects produced what the complainant believed to be a handgun, and ordered the complainant out of the car. The complainant then exited the vehicle and began to run away. (more…)
