From a press release:

“North Capitol Main Streets will host its 3rd annual Taste of North Capitol on Thursday June 6th, 2019 from 7:00 -10:00 pm. The event will celebrate the unique neighborhoods that make up North Capitol Main Street (Bates, Bloomingdale, Eckington, and Truxton Circle) as well as the one-of-a-kind businesses that make this dining destination like no other. Guests can expect an awesome showing of food and cocktails as the bars and restaurants from these hoods come together to highlight their offerings. The “Capitol Commons” bar, sponsored by Hotaling & Co. will feature Pike Creek and Lot 40 rye whisky cocktails inspired by and named for these 4 unique pockets of DC. Additionally, the evening will feature “The Archives,” a band that began when Thievery Corporation’s Eric Hilton began a quest to explore the roots of reggae music. Led by producer/ keyboard ace Darryl “D-Trane” Burke, all members have recorded and toured internationally with acts like Eek-A-Mouse, Black Uhuru, Culture, Don Carlos and more.

Restaurants and businesses hosting the 3rd annual Taste of North Capitol include Anxo Cidery, Bacio Pizza, Boundary Stone, Pub and the People, DCity Smokehouse, Sunset Wine and Spirits, Jam Doung Jamaican Eatery, Uncle Chips, Big Bear Café, Truxton Inn, The Eleanor, Wicked Bloom and more. The beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and open atrium of the National Public Radio (NPR) building will be the backdrop for a festive atmosphere that includes dancing, wine tasting and unlimited cuisine and cocktails from the Taste of North Capitol’s host committee of chefs, restaurateurs, mixologists and spirits.”

Calling all bookworms, thrill-seekers, supporters of the arts, and ping-pongers at all skill levels! Sign up for Paddlestar Galactica, the ping-pong tournament supporting 826DC’s youth writing programs.

826DC is a local nonprofit that offers free writing programs, homework help, and publishing opportunities for DC students ages 6-18, in our Columbia Heights writing center and in learning spaces across the city.

Paddlestar Galactica helps keep writing education 100% free and accessible for all of our students! It’s also extremely fun.

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
