“No more @Bertuccis on Connecticut Ave. in Dupont. I’d be sad if I’d ever eaten there. (Maybe once?) @PoPville”

Another reader emailed that they were closed yesterday too at 1218-1220 Connecticut Ave NW near the Shake Shack. Where there any fans?

Finally some movement at the former New Orleans Po Boy space that closed back in December of last year. I hear it’s going to be something called Yaffa or Yaffa’s – I’m guessing Middle Eastern/Falafel? Anyone else hear this? Sounds like it won’t be a major renovation so we’ll update as soon as they open:

While we’re waiting for the Indian Cultural Center to come to U Street, a piece of India has already dropped in Dupont. Thanks to those who sent emails about Pansaari opening on 17th Street.

Their website says:

“We will be an Indian food and spice market, cafe, and cooking school, serving the Dupont area with fresh, authentic Indian ingredients.”

This place is awesome.

Thanks to a reader for sending:

“I am a member of Phillips Collection but yesterday when I went for a quick afternoon glimpse of the excellent “Luncheon of the Boating Party” I was alerted to the fact that the gallery is free right now for everyone. This is because they are in the process of exchanging out the 3rd floor exhibit. I think entrance is usually $15ish so this is a nice perk. Thought you might like to share it out with readers!”

Ed. Note: Phillips says they’ll be free until the next exhibit (except for weekends) on Sept. 27th

Big &pizza expansion news from the Washington Business Journal:

“Next up for the restaurant group: Dupont Circle, Capitol Hill, Chinatown and Rockville. Co-founder Steve Salis expects all of those to open by the end of 2014 or early 2015, he said.”

The Dupont Circle and Chinatown locations are reported to be 1215 Connecticut Ave. NW and 802 7th St. NW (around the corner from the coming Potbelly and Cava Grill) respectively.

Last week we reported that &pizza would be coming to the Oxxo Cleaners space on Barracks Row at 405 8th Street, SE.
