1am Shooting in Dupont Circle; Shooting Homicide in SW

“This morning at approximately 1:00 am, the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call for shooting in the 1800 block of Massachusetts Avenue, NW. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital conscious and breathing. There is no lookout for the suspect at this time. The east side of Dupont Circle will remain closed until further notice as this investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

Alan Henney reported:

“ANOTHER DUPONT CIRCLE SHOOTING (2ND WEEKEND IN A ROW)- a 27-year-old man going now to a trauma center after he was shot in the eye. He is conscious. No suspect info.”

2 Suspects Caught after man shot at 18th and M St, NW around 2am Sunday

“At approximately 1:57 am, MPD officers responded to 18th and M Street, NW for the sound of gunshots. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower torso. Two suspects were immediately apprehended while attempting to flee from the scene. The shooting victim was conscious and breathing and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.”

“The World Press Photo Exhibition represents the year’s best visual journalism and is seen by 4 million people in 100 cities across the globe. Lightscape is bringing the Exhibition to Washington DC, home of the people and institutions that drive thinking and decision-making on the issues behind the photographs. We are working with leading universities, think-tanks, embassies, international-, media- and civil society organizations to tell the stories behind the photos.

The images cover a broad range of topics and explore refugees/migration, conflicts in the Middle-East, climate change, race and policing, gender identity, and the human impact of the Zika virus, but also the US Rio Olympic team, National Geographic images of pandas, Usain Bolt’s golden smile, Chinese gymnasts and a Spanish cultural festival. This is photojournalism at its best and most thought-provoking.

The venue is the Dupont Underground, the abandoned trolley station beneath Dupont Circle. This massive space will house 22 projectors casting 13′ images of the year’s most important stories, a wall of large prints of WPP prize-winning photographs and a retrospective of 60 years of Photos of the Year. “Dear PoPville,

My apartment window faces the Hotel Carlyle, and a guest at the Carlyle Hotel deliberately opened his blinds and pleasured himself in front of the window for no less than 10 minutes on Wednesday 11/8. I called the police and spoke extensively with the hotel management, including sending them photographic evidence of the incident. I am 100% sure this was a deliberate action on this man’s part, intended to intimidate.

I am incredibly disappointed that the hotel’s response was to do the absolute minimum. (more…)
