“Dear PoPville,
Capitol Hill readers may remember our beloved breakfast haunt, Bagels & Baguettes, on the corner of 3rd and Mass NE.
Helen, the owner, is really struggling in her new location (901 New York Ave NW), and if things don’t go well, she’ll be gone within the year. The windows are dark, and the landlord/zoning won’t let her do sidewalk signage. She’s also right next to a Starbucks (which cannot compare to her fresh baked bagels and croissants!).
Anything readers can do to help get the word out to her new City Center neighborhood would be appreciated. Helen is the mom of two young teens and really needs the boost!”

Back in March we spoke about the Flipside Filipino restaurant opening here. This space is having a rough go as everyone who opens doesn’t seem to last more than a year. Updates when we learn who takes next crack at it.

“Downtown Cucina Al Volo under new ownership? It was closed for a week between Xmas and NYE. Now, most of the Cucina Al Volo signage is down, and rudimentary “E Street” pizza and pasta signage is up.”
