A few weeks ago, it was encouraging to see the western sidewalks of 11th St NW btw Lamont and the infamous $2M+ dog park covered w a construction walkway for pedestrians. In going past today, though, I noticed that walkway was taken down and no construction done to the former Chinese restaurant and laundromat. Upon closer inspection, there’s a stop work order for an unsafe worksite, but also a permit for a 14-unit mixed residential retail building after razing the existing structure… (more…)

On DC USA’s operator’s site, it shows a picture of a “proposed storefront redesign”, which seems designed to cater to a more upscale set of retailers, such as those selling… penny farthing bicycles. [Ed. Note: See far right hand side of rendering above.]
It looks like it’s dated from December 2018, Do you know anything about this?
Since this has been up, DC USA has lost two more tenants (Panera and Payless), and has over ten vacancies on the first floor. (more…)
