A reader reports:

“Another prime example of our skilled drivers. Yes the driver left the car like that and after a few hour it still is like. Columbia Heights.”

When parking jobs are this bad, it’s usually a result of getting hit by a car. Though never underestimate…

Update: “Just realized this was a hit and run — police came at 11:30PM with the owner of the car to take note of the crash. I took this picture this AM.”

“Dear PoPville,

In most daily walks with my dog to Meridian Hill Park, I usually am disgusted by the amount of litter, but left feeling a bit less disillusioned today as I found this deceased squirrel who someone decided to honor with a yellow rose.”

I suppose it’s better than the deceased drunken vodka squirrel

“Dear PoPville,

Went to the Columbia Heights CVS at 14th and Irving this morning to get passport photos taken, only to find out from the manager that someone broke in and stole their passport camera. No worries, FedEx Office a couple doors down does them, too.

But who steals a crappy CVS passport camera anyway? Only in Columbia Heights.”

From a press release:

“air Lynch Real Estate Partners (“Jair Lynch”) announced it entered into a 99-year ground lease with Howard University for 2601 16th Street, NW, a property adjacent to Meridian Hill Park. Jair Lynch intends to renovate the now- vacant dormitory into a boutique multifamily housing community. Jair Lynch acquired the rights in September 2015 from Howard University through a competitive process and closed the transaction on December 17, 2015.

The 2601 16th Street, NW building, constructed in 1942, was the site of the first government- owned and -operated hotel built exclusively to house young women who moved to the District during World War II to fill government jobs. Howard University operated it until 2013 as an off- campus dormitory known Meridian Hill Hall. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

A man in a tie just stopped me on the Columbia Heights metro platform, flashed a “resume” at me, claimed he had an interview at Giant and asked for cash to buy deodorant. I offered to take him to CVS and buy it for him and he kept refusing and insisting on cash, then he told me to get on the train to work when I refused to go to the ATM for him. He then kept walking up and down the platform trying to scam more people and got real angry when I followed him and called him out on it.

Just a warning to others.”
