Is this a common tactic? Keep your eyes peeled for this one if you can.
“Dear PoPville,
Basically, my bike got stolen and I’d love to get it back, if possible.
I work a part time job at The Coupe on the weekends. On Sunday, I biked to The Coupe to start my shift. The bike rack was full, so I locked (using a U Lock) my bike to the northeast stop sign of Monroe and Park Rd, across the street from The Coupe. When my shift was ended, I found another bike (a gray Fuji Silhouette) locked to mine. I checked, and the Fuji didn’t belong to anyone at The Coupe, so I decided to walk home, hoping that the owner would unlock their bike by the next day.
I worked all day Monday at my full-time job, and returned to Monroe and Park to check on my bike only to find it gone. There was no sign of my bike or the gray Fuji or either bike lock. I filed a police report and registered my stolen bike on bikeindex.org.”

“Early this morning (4/16) around 4:30am someone stole two bicycles from our backyard: one dark green Surly Cross-Check with white fenders and one brand new grey Trek 7.2 FX. I’m desperate to get them back, and so I welcome folks who might see them up for sale to buy them back–I will reimburse you. You’ll know the Surly is stolen because my U lock is locked to the frame.”

Been getting a lot of emails (starting at 1:15pm) about the Columbia Heights Giant – most recently at 4:15:
“just a heads up. Columbia Heights giant isn’t selling any perishables today. All fridges and freezers blocked off.”

Michael reports:
“Fire department has it under control and evacuated some residents via ladders. This was the scene at about 6:50 AM.”
DC Fire and EMS reported:
“Woman & child rescued from 2nd floor along Sherman Ave this morning – 1 @dcfireems reporting minor shoulder injury.”

“Dear PoPville,
What is with all the chicken bones on the streets of DC? Recently a 7-Eleven and a pizza place that sells wings opened up by my house. The result is a daily accumulation of chicken bones on the side walks. It is disgusting, my dog tries to eat them, I am sure the rats are getting after them too.
I personally think that we should ban the sale of chicken wings “to-go”. However, I am sure that will not be a popular move even among PoPville readers. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to discourage the sidewalk consumption of chicken wings?”
