Back in December we learned that Capitol Hill’s beloved Bagels and Baguettes had plans to reopen near the Convention Center/City Center. I’m happy to report that it’s legit and coming soon signage has been posted:

This is the former Elisir Italian Restaurant that closed in January 2014 and was then seized for tax issues back in February of 2014. A new liquor license for the space is posted for Punjab Grill:
“New C Restaurant serving Indian cuisine. Seating Capacity of 150, Total Occupancy Load of 199. Sidewalk Cafe with 50 seats. The License will include an Entertainment Endorsement to provide Live Entertainment.”

“Nearly five years after opening the award-winning South American steakhouse, chef Victor Albisu is replacing Del Campo with two Mexican concepts. Taco Bamba, his wildly popular counter-service taqueria, will have its first permanent D.C. home in the front bar and dining room, while the back dining room and patio will welcome Poca Madre. Albisu’s first upscale Mexican concept will offer a refined menu for dinner only.
“Del Campo has had a great run at 777 I (EYE) St., but the success of the Taco Bamba lunch counter made me think it’s time for a change in this space,” Albisu said. ” When I first opened Taco Bamba in Falls Church my goal was to introduce people to a different side of Mexican food, respecting the classics, but also showing off how cool and creative the cuisine could be. Poca Madre is going to be a more upscale experience, but the goal is similar. There are very few refined contemporary Mexican restaurants in the U.S. and none in D.C. I want to bring a different kind of Mexican experience to the District.”

“Spice-6 Modern Indian is coming to Chinatown in the space that On Rye used to occupy.
Targeting a mid-April opening!
This will be Spice-6’s third area location (Hyattsville and Vienna/Dunn Loring Metro currently open). Their forth location will be at Westfield Montgomery Mall in the food court (mid-May).
A few things to note for this location.

In addition to their naan pizza, rice bowls, salads, naan wraps and kabob platters they are adding items!!
The family owned and operated restaurant will be launching a full (real) DOSA Menu. Catering to vegans and vegetarians (they will prep be prepping proteins in a separate space in the kitchen so there is no cross over).
Also, adding Vada’s to the menu. A savory Southern Indian donut made from lentil flour, onions and spices – to be dipped in sambar and served with a coconut and tomato chutney.”

“They pealed the stickers off Maison Kayser’s windows this morning at 650 Mass NW. website says the store will open on 2/28.”
Their first location at 1345 F Street, NW opened February 8th. Anyone take an early taste?
“In addition to its world-renowned bread, both Maison Kayser locations feature an array of French pastries and viennoiseries including their award-winning baguettes, pain au chocolat, and best-selling almond croissants, a selection of grab-and-go items, and a French style sit-down café. The same commitment to sourcing and using quality ingredients extends to Maison Kayser’s café, which offers a decadent menu of French, seasonal favorites for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The neighborhood-driven restaurant concept serving deliciously-inspired food and drinks will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, February 21 at 781 Seventh St. NW in the historic Chinatown neighborhood of Washington D.C.
The 7,600-square-foot, two-level restaurant features a dining experience inspired by the Chinatown community and boasts a long bar on the first floor with flexible dining seating.
