“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is issuing a Notice to Proceed (NTP) to Fort Myer Construction Corporation (FMCC) for construction of Maryland Avenue, NE on June 10, 2019. The project is expected to be complete by Summer of 2021.

Work will begin on the inbound lanes of Maryland Avenue from 14th Street toward 3rd Street, NE. The permitted construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Over the next two years, Maryland Avenue, NE will be subject to alternative traffic patterns, temporary lane closures, and parking restrictions. (more…)

“EastBanc, Inc., developer of the vibrant mixed-use community 700 Penn, along with partners Stanton Development and Jamestown, today announced that customizable burger concept Eat Brgz will launch its first-to-market, fast-casual restaurant space in 700 Penn. The eatery will occupy approximately 1,600 square feet on the C Street SE Plaza and is slated to open this July.

The new concept – the first of its kind – reimagines the classic American hamburger. Eat Brgz combines thoughtfully-sourced ingredients, widespread flavors and unlimited creativity to introduce a burger experience where ingredients are mixed into the patty and cooked together; creating a carefully crafted culinary experience that is both entirely new and familiar. “Dear PoPville,

I’ve lived near Eastern Market for several years and have repeatedly been stopped by (mostly young women) “on their way to bible study”. The first couple of times it happened I thought they were lost or asking for directions. After the first couple of times anytime they stop me on the street I tell them very firmly to stop harassing me. (more…)
