Shooting Homicide in Brightwood Park; Carjacking on Capitol Hill

Readers reported: “Just heard what sounded like 6-7 gunshots, a pause, and then 6-7 more in response.”

Update from MPD: “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, April 13, 2020, in the 700 block of Longfellow Street, Northwest.

At approximately 11:20 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious adult male, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 25 year-old Clarence Skrine, of Northwest, DC.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

Ed. Note: The last time we posted about this parakeet @PoPville on twitter a reader responded that they’ve tried to catch him/her multiple times but have been unsuccessful. I think they said they’ve been leaving bird seed, let’s not go there, and provided some sort of shelter. Of course this memory could be tainted by the gin.

“No more Subway in the Eastern Market area! I tried to open the door to head in for my morning Oven Roasted Chicken on wheat and then saw the sign. It’s a loss for me. I loved the staff here. One employee’s wife even made my whole family traditional Tanzanian garments for Christmas one year.”
