Leaving after Colliding Hit & Run – Pedestrian, 5300 b/o Georgia Ave NW, CCN 174-040

On October 13, at approximately 11:30pm, the Victim was in the crosswalk crossing over Georgia Avenue NW when he was struck by a vehicle, which continued southbound on Georgia Ave at a high rate of speed. The Victim sustained a broken leg and a laceration to the head, and was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Based on the vehicle parts left behind on scene, the vehicle is believed to be a Nissan Xterra pickup truck, model year between 2002-2004.

K reported around 10pm Saturday night:

“2 shots heard and a guy running down 5th towards Kennedy St. Police are here.”

MPD reported:

“Shooting at 2143 hrs in the 5500 block of 5th Street, NW. No Lookout.”

Update from MPD:

“On October 14, 2018 at approximately 9:40pm, an unknown Suspect fired two rounds at the Victim from a passing vehicle. As a result, the Victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper left chest. The Victim was transported to a local hospital and listed in serious but stable condition. The shooting appears to have escalated from a previous argument. No usable lookout at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact MPD at (202) 727-9099.”

Around the same time we received multiple reports of loud booms, “canons”, fireworks etc a bit further south in Petworth/Columbia Heights.

Sunday morning E confirmed:

“I thought the 13th and Randolph incident was fireworks but found a bullet next to my car this morning on 13th street

“On October 3, 2018 at 7:15 pm – Fourth District Units responded for a shooting in the 5700 block of Georgia Ave NW

The complainant reported he was involved in a physical altercation with suspects 1 and 2, during the struggle one of the suspects produced a gun, and the complainant was struck in his lower body. (more…)

“When I was passing through the Georgia/Missouri Ave intersection Saturday morning, I noticed an opening soon sign from “Milk and Honey Cafe present Catch 22″ on the former Imm Thai/Brightwood Bistro space.

Catch 22 will apparently feature Southern Seafood & Brunch. I wish them the best & hope they last!”
