Update from Alert DC:

“PEPCO reports the power outage has spread to the following neighbor hoods in addition to Lanier Heights: Mount Pleasant, Park View, Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, Cardoza, and Kalorama. There are approximately 2277 customers affected with an estimated restoration time of 2:00 PM.”

Update #2: “PEPCO has updated their reported outages to be only Mount Pleasant with 419 customers affected and Adams Morgan with 272 customers affected. There is an estimated restoration time of 5:00 PM.”

Hmm this is a curious location. The liquor license placard for an as of yet unnamed bar says:

“A new Retailer’s Class C Tavern with a seating capacity of 30 and Total Occupancy Load of 50. Requesting a Summer Garden with 15 seats and a Live Entertainment Endorsement for both inside the premises and outside in the Summer Garden.” (more…)


Following on the heels of the coconut conundrum comes this milk mystery from Mary:

this is the fourth time these cartons of milk have been left on me and my neighbors doors. We have no idea whose putting it there. Any insight?”

As late December has come and gone and many, many folks have inquired what’s up with the Streets Market coming to the former Metro K space. The folks from Streets Market tell me they are now on track for: “a late Jan / early Feb opening. Almost done on the inside.”

We should have a firmer date in the next couple of weeks. STAY TUNED.

Avi tells us: “not sure if you already know this, but just confirmed with some Federalist Pig staff that they’re expanding next door. The guy I spoke to said they’re moving forward with it, but didn’t have an exact timeline yet. Seems like our rib tip dreams are coming true.”

Back when Cricket closed next door in October, a reader wrote: “Perhaps an expansion is in their future?” I was skeptical but shared the famous James Allen quote – “Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” Indeed. (more…)
